Although we are happy for people to call unannounced, making an appointment allows us to spend more time with you, answer your questions in more detail and help you make an informed choice about whether Old Alresford Cottage is the right place for you.
We are a care home for elderly people; our goal is to help our residents to live full, rewarding lives in an atmosphere of friendliness and security. The key objective is to deliver our service with the help of staff that are experienced, well trained and have a deep understanding and empathy for every resident they work with.
Yes, respite and day care is something that we offer very successfully in order to support people who wish to remain in their own home. We are happy to consider regular bookings to give a family member or carer a break from caring responsibilities or simply a one-off booking to help with a breakdown in care or to allow for a holiday.
We recognise that food is a big part of what keeps us happy and healthy so we try to provide an enjoyable, varied and nutritious menu.
Yes, our fully trained chefs are able to meet the requirements of all special dietary needs.
Our activities are as varied as our residents! We have an Activities Organiser on the premises seven days per week. Residents are very much a part of the decision making around what activities are offered. These range from knitting, quizzes, keep fit, crosswords, word searches, Scrabble, trips out, flower arranging, baking, pottery classes, one to one time…to name but a few.
Yes, we encourage residents to make their room their own, after all, your bedroom door is your front door.

Yes, we have a computer available for residents. We also keep up with social media with our very active Facebook page. There is a guest wifi if needed for residents and families

Yes, a hairdresser is available on Wednesday and Friday afternoons at a small cost to the resident.
Yes, we encourage residents to entertain as they would at home. There is a small cost of £5 per person.
